June 2008

Hi there, well it has been a long time and the reason for that is that there is not too much to report, we have been trying to put together a band to record with and that is proving a little more time consuming than anticipated, but believe it or not we are getting there.

The good things about having some time off is that there is room for new songs and they are upon us in quantity, so that is good, we'll be shaping those for the new CD, I'll keep you posted. Thanks, Stewart Guthrie.

Sept 2007

Hi all, well we are starting to get out and about as Summer approaches, the new format is Guthrie and Pastiche, basically a duo, that plays lots of originals but does not neglect the old favourites for a good time!!! he duo consists of Kevin Demmon and Stewart Guthrie, we will be incorporating a bass player Ross Kalla, at every chance and we are on the look out for a drummer so we can do a full band production. Hope to see you around. Check the live dates page for the shows.

July 2007

Well for those of you who may be interested, we are going into rehearsal with Kevin Demmon to bring some new tunes to you 'live' and around the place so look out for us in the next few months.

There is a technical hold up with the new 'BOMB' video at the moment so the release is delayed a couple of months I'll keep you up dated.

Have a fist full of new songs that has been inspired by a new guitar purchase, got myself a Martin 000, just beautiful to play, takes a bit of getting used to but the end result is great. And and and, it has a built in tuner (Fishman) and I can't tell you how convenient that is, awesome!!!

Found a film you may have heard of, released late 2006, worth a click as it describes the current music industry dilemma. B4MD (Before the Music Dies). See it if you can, I'm hoping to see it in Melbourne soon.

(late) April 2007

Hi All, well we have posted some pics from the video shoot at the Farley Mowat (click), we also caught up with Paul Watson from Sea Shepard at Bells Beach where the Ripcurl Pro was happening and he kindly said some words that will be featured in the video, once again thanks to all involved it was a great effort on everyone behalf. The next step is to collate all the footage into a video that you will (hopefully) get to view in the not too distant future. Stewart.

(mid) April 2007

Hi All, well I have some great news, after much calling and chatting we are going to shoot some live band footage for the 'Blood on my Boots' video on the Sea Shepard ships Farley Mowat and Robert Hunter that are in port, in Melbourne at the moment. It will be very simple and low budget, but will get the point across. This will be a great setting for the video as Sea Shepard are very active in the fight against whaling. Thanks to everyone involved for making this possible. Stewart.

April 2007

Well the final mastered mix is here, go to the 'Blood on my Boots' (BOMB) page and have a listen, tell us what you think, the art work for the song is on the right, thanks Cambo!! Regards, Stewart.

March 2007

Guess what, we have finally recorded 'Blood on my Boots', the band version is being mastered as we speak and the video is on the way, soon we will put it up on iTunes and here for all to listen to. Thanks heaps to Ross Kalla for his unwavering support and Mark Rachelle from Back Beach Recording for the engineering and mix downs. The video is being done by Tony Fields and Boris Brawhite from Whalecall  so I'll keep you posted on the progress and that will be available here as well, soon. Bye for now. Stewart.

January 2007

Happy new year!!! Well as is normal with this industry, we have a delay in recording, but we are now scheduled for late January to do 'Blood on my boots', (band version) and we are currently recording a bunch of acoustic songs, have the guide tracks, vocals and bass down and will be mixing and adding embellishments over the next few weeks, this will form part of the new CD to be called 'About Face'. See ya. Stewart.

December 2006

Just want to let you know that we have some studio time booked for early January to do 3 versions of Blood On My boots. The band versions will be the backing track for an anti whaling video being produced by Tony Fields and Boris Branwhite with Greenpeace footage. I'll keep you posted. Stewart.

November 2006

Hello again, we have a bit of a treat on the way, Boris Branwhite and Tony Fields from  www.whalecall.org/, have put together a video it's here (click), it's a short pre-production version but a big download 9.5 meg. This footage is quite graphic so if you are not prepared for it do not watch it, any kids please ask your parents.!!  Boris and Tony have selected the song 'Blood on my Boots' to use as a backing track and we are very happy to support them in their endeavours to raise awareness.

October 2006

There is quite a bit shaping up for summer, Mr. Farquarharsen (click for song page) has been selected as a finalist in the Song writing Comp that is a part of the Maldon Folk Festival so I will be travelling north to perform on the 4th of Nov at the festival, should be fun as I have never been there before.

The Neil Young web site has a 'anti war' song page, so being the 'brazen-hussy' that I am, I register Hey Soldier and the download rate is quite amazing, 94 downloads last month, I think this is pretty good for a little old tune-smith from down under. Another funny thing, 180knots (the band) actually top the list of performers at the Queenscliff Music Festival, and I would really like to say that it is because of our fine  music but alas no, it is because of the name 180knots is a number.!!!! Check the 'Line-up' page.

Any way all is well in sunny Torquay and there are some new songs, new live venues and dates on the way so stayed tuned. PS The pic is my new business card!!! (Hmmmm)

August 2006

Hi all, well seems that lady luck has 'smiled a little', Mr. Farquarharsen (click for song page) has reached the final round of judging in the 'Australia' category of the 26th Australian national Song writing Comp, for this I get a certificate of some sort (to hang on the wall of the shed), being the first song competition I have entered I guess this is pretty good, so when the certificate arrives I'll post a pic and you can check it out. This link will take you to the ASIA site. www.asai.org.au/ Bye for now.

Newsletter July 2006

Hi for July, and welcome to a new stew site, quite weird for me actually, I have never really warmed to the idea of doing the 'solo thing', but life is like that and here I am writing to you from a desk in Torquay, Australia. In hindsight (already) I am finding that the move out here on my own is forcing me to look at my 'comfort zones' and shift the boundaries that I have made for myself.

It's actually quite exciting, planning the new CD, formulating the song structures the sound direction and production values. One of the bonuses of the 'solo thing' is that I can take a song wherever it needs to go, with different sounds, different instruments and no rules to govern the outcome, Hmmm, that could be dangerous so I still need the help of good players, engineers and producers!!!

All is well, bye for now, Stewart.

Would be 'chuffed' to get some feed back from you!
